Welcome to SaiVeda!
A site for learning to chant the Vedas
“A regular study of the Vedas and the practice of their teachings confer all forms of wealth. The Vedas are a gift of God for the welfare of the entire humanity. The Vedas make no distinction on the basis of religion, caste or nationality. The Veda mantras can be chanted by one and all.
It is Swāmi’s wish that the Vedas spread to every country so that every human being irrespective of religion, caste or nationality learn and chant them.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba – 08/2006

Learning to chant the Vedas is traditionally and primarily done with a teacher. The student repeats the mantra after the teacher as precisely as possible.
This site presents an aid that can complement or accompany this learning process, thanks to a tool called RCCS (Roman Coloured Coding Script). This visual and intuitive coding of the rhythm and melody of the mantras integrates all the subtleties of Vedic sounds (pauses between vowels, extensions, saṁdhi rules, svara bhakti...) and facilitates their chanting.
In the Panorama of the Vedas, you will find a brief history as well as inspiring and enlightening quotations. A pronunciation guide, chanting tips and a first approach to the saṁdhi rules are available in the Basics section.
A section specially dedicated to Sri Rudram offers a complete learning module, as well as explanations from Sathya Sai Baba on the meaning of namakam and chamakam, and a presentation of the book ‘Rudra Tattva’ by Maunish Vyas.
The Files section contains various Vedic mantras, including some in ghana pāṭha, with materials to learn and chant them: pdfs (rccs+dēvanāgarī), audios, tutorials, an instrumental aid, or feedbacks listing the most common mistakes. You will also be able to delve deeper into the texts thanks to the word-by-word meanings, and access the entire Rig Veda Saṁhitā.
The Sevā section informs you about monthly online chanting programmes; and if you still have questions, don’t hesitate to consult the Frequently Asked Questions!
